At some point in our lives we face despondency, depression, trials, and temptations. Some of us have more than our share, while others, sail through life with seemly little to worry about. At least it appears to us that way.
I envy those, whose faith is so strong, that no calamity seems too much for them. They are so secure in faith, and that God is in control, that despite all trials they can honestly say along with the apostle Paul, (Romans 8:28) “And we know that for those who love God all things worktogether for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Remember the story of the three young men thrown in the fiery furnace because they refused to bow down to the statue of Nebuchadnezzar? (Daniel 3:1) They truly faced trial by fire. God allowed the trial to occur. He allowed the king to throw them into the fire………but He also provided their escape from harm.
Daniel 3:17-18…If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
Perhaps that’s what He has planned for us as well. He allows these trials by fire.
Will they strengthen your faith and mine? Can we survive the trials which seemingly will consume us?
